What is Presidential? Why Newt?

Back in the 1960s Russian and other former leaders thought Kennedy was week. He was a US Media darling but when push came to shove would he be a strong leader?  TV and Internet has changed what many in the US consider Presidential. Mistresses and underhanded practice is more transparent. It is easier than ever to call out the BS. Many people prefer news that resembles TMZ over Walter Cronkite. Too often NEWS is entertainment not journalism. Sound bytes trump actual facts. Journalist think themselves more important than the story. So called experts are mostly staff from failed campaigns. And too often the public follows the narrow field of information presented by a few instead of watching entire debates or reading a full story of facts.

Last Thursday, say what you want about Newt Gingrich, but he is saying all the things – right or wrong – the right way. When Gingrich was asked about comments form ex-wife by John King, Newt burried John King. And you can tell by John Kings defensive response, Newt  put Mr. King on his heels. At the debate, John King looked like a teenager that was scolded. On his following TV appearance, he seemed to whine like a baby. “I report the news!” No what you do is try and shape the news. Using your news outlet to try and bury Newt is exactly why SC voters said FU to you.

By comparison, when Mitt Romney was asked about financial records, he continues to flounder.

But what really shows who is presidential? This morning Newt and Mitt both were scheduled to show up at Tommy’s HAM House at the same time. All of the media were looking forward to a showdown over real – not legislative – pork. But Mitt Romney slipped in and out early to avoid confrontation. Newt showed up on time and asked “Where’s Mitt?” He did not care about a potential impromptu debate or showdown.
